BPO or  development outsourcing  is essentially a process of subcontracting processes to a third party. This whole thing is not entirely new. Development outsourcing has existed in one form or another for the past few thousands of years. However, it has only been in recent memory that outsourcing has reached the kind of level that it has. For example, many companies that were once heavily into manufacturing no longer do any of the sort. Instead, many of them make use of third partiers to do their manufacturing for them so they may focus on marketing, design, or whatever else their core competencies may be.
