The best use of my time

Monday, August 25th, 2008

There are more sites to see in Rome than you probably have time to see them all on this visit. The best thing to do is a little research before you leave. I have tried reading books but they take too much time. I have started going online to meet all my travel needs - choosing from all the Rome hotels the one right for my budget and travel plans. And I also go to websites that can help me decide the top 10 attractions or activities I want to be sure I pursue during my trip, then read up a little on them.

Proof on a Map

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

A friend of mine was asking me random questions about my homeland of Holland while we were on the bus the other day. He thought that Holland was landlocked, which I told him was untrue. He also thought the country was only on the mainland, and I had to set him straight there as well. I explained that Holland has a few islands, and the biggest Dutch island is Texel. Texel is used primarily for sheep and sheep shearing, but a good deal of it is aimed at tourism. My friend was amazed, and we all had a hardy bit of knowledge enter our noggins.

Everyone should experience the joys of traveling. If you are planning to invest in a particular real estate market then you should really consider the florida villas. These homes set in the heart of nature provide a home and a retreat to many people. As such these villas are going up in prices every day as they are in great demand. No Room at the Inn

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

My sister and I agree on almost everything - except travel arrangements.

She’s convinced that, “flying by the seat of your pants” is the way to go and loves to find surprises around every corner.

I reminded her of the great European fiasco of 1998 when we found ourselves wandering around one evening in a strange city, looking for a place to stay - in twenty-five degree weather.

Ironically, it was the Christmas holidays and everything was booked.

So, for our most recent adventure, I went to www.bungalows.com and booked a charming place for each city we would visit.

Even without surprises, my sister admitted that having a little house or chalet ready everywhere we traveled beat pounding the pavement.

Amsterdam shopping

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Shopping is what brings a high percentage of the tourists to Amsterdam. Shopping opportunities range from large old departments stores such as Metz and Company to the small specialty shops. Many people stay in the Amsterdam hotels just to stroll along the canals and visit the small shops. One of the more popular shopping areas is known as Negen Straatjes. This area is composed of nine narrow streets that wind among Amsterdam’s concentric canal system. The selling point for these shops is that they are all privately owned and carry a large variety of goods. If the shops are too much for you, try one of the open air markets for awhile.

The Luxury of Dubai

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

If there is such a thing as a five star city, it has got to be Dubai. I have made several trips to Dubai over the last eight years and the growth that it continues to experience is tremendous.

Dubai offers the best of the best, a place to see all of the world’s high end luxuries in one location. The hotels are grand, the restaurants are fabulous, and you can snow ski indoors. This is a major European destination that is starting to gain attention in America.

Researching to find the best hotel rates in Dubai is well worth the effort. In fact, it isn’t very difficult since many major hotel chains do have locations in Dubai.

Comparing Jobs at Hotels in Leeds

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I often think about the relevance of growing up in the Midwest. There are a lot of things to consider when comparing hotels in Michigan and hotels in Leeds. The first thing that comes to my mind is the climate. From what I understand it gets dreadfully hot down there. However, it is a dry hot and not the awful humid hot that we get in Michigan. I have done some serious manuel labor when working for a nursery. I was in charge of keeping the garden center at a big box store looking good. I wonder if that job would have been easier or more difficult in Leeds.
