Stenciling is not new. We have all seen pictures of cave paintings that date back over 30,000 years ago. Many of these are actually large wall stencils. The painters found it easier to reproduce their work accurately with the use of stencils. Almost all cultures in all parts of the world have developed stenciling procedures. On Fiji the natives developed bamboo and banana leaf stencils and that process is still in use today. From Egyptian tombs to Greek and Roman temples we find stencil paintings. And today one of the first forms of artwork taught in our schools is the art of stenciling.
