Tomatoes can be a challenge, Tomatoes have attracted nematodes in our soil and show the effects year after year. We have now started planting our tomatoes in planters near the back door. We can put in fresh soil each year and do not have the nematode problems. The most attractive feature of back door tomatoes is that I can just open the door, pick a few tomatoes, and have fresh fruit for my meals.
