Protecting classified data is important for some organizations. I have read about some companies that make use of biometric systems to prevent unauthorized access. This has become common to organizations such as health companies that maintain classified medical records or sensitive data. The biometric software acts as a double blind security mechanism to prevent outside intrusion form software hackers. I recall one company that suffered a heavy fine due to lax security standards that resulted in data falling into unauthorized hands. The potential for identity theft with this type of situation requires additional security measures to prevent this from happening.
